Hello,
My name is Ruth Schleppi-Verboom.
I’m a writer, a mother of four, and someone who is learning the meaning of small things.
The world holds much chaos and pain — we all know this. Yet, within it, are glimpses of beauty.
These glimpses are the small things I don't want to miss. Hues of green, outstretched branches of a magnolia tree, a teapot, words like bountifully, and the smile of a passer-by. These are the stories I write about.
Not to explain life, but to experience it.
C.S. Lewis once said: Don't tell your readers
how to feel, instead make them feel.
I wrote a book!
For several years on Sunday Evenings, I helped Joni Eareckson Tada. If you know Joni, you can imagine the impact this had on my life. Often people ask me what I learned from Joni and I could write a million chapters. Or summarize it in one sentence…
Joni’s eyes are fixed on Jesus. Always.
I noticed there is incredible strength and beauty in this.
Not wanting to forget our conversations I started writing things down. And those notes became a book...
Sunday Evenings with Joni
— conversations about life’s chaos and God’s amazing grace
Another thing I learned from Joni was about prayer. The whole story is in the book, but in a nutshell it is this (see video)
It taught me to change my perspective away from the problem, towards God. And I thought of ways to remind myself to pray like this. A tattoo seemed a bit much..., so I designed a necklace instead.
The 80-20.
I loved working on jewelry so much, that this one piece inspired me to start a whole jewelry collection!
Ruthfully Jewelry
— jewelry to remind us of the goodness of God.
And that’s enough about me, for now.
I’m so glad you are here!
